August and September Wrap Up

24eedf191a

The Good:

(*♡∀♡) Fullmetal Alchemist by Hiromi Arakawa

The tale of the Elric Brothers and their search of the philosopher’s stone it is one of my favorite animes. So, I decided to read the manga this year and I did not regret it. The story is still as good as I remembered and even if you are not a big fan of manga, you should give this a try.

The Disappointing:

(╬ Ò﹏Ó) Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

This was the worst book I’ve read this year. Poorly written, it read like a fanfic of poor quality and the magic system had no redeeming qualities. Worst of all, it had too many pages. It’s a hard pass and if you are looking for a good story of Baz and Simon, stick with the snippets from Fangirl.

The Revelation:

Σ(O_O) The Isle of Doctor Moreau by H. G. Wells

Well, this sure was a trip of a lifetime. A must for sci fi fans, this is the story of a doctor that manipulates humanity and it ends terribly. This formula might seem familiar now, but Wells was actually probably one of the first to write it and for that value only it’s worth the read.

Advice, this is not for the faint of heart. Make sure you are not bothered by violence or gore before reading this.

Honorable Mention:

(・ω<)☆ The Diary of Anne Frank

It’s a strange experience and a multitude of feelings will pass through you as Anne pours her heart into this diary. It’s the raw nature of Anne’s feelings and emotions that makes the knowledge of the ending even darker, an innocent girl being deprived of a future because of a stupid ideology. Ready it if you haven’t.

What have you read lately?

May The Almighty GIP be with you, L.T:Htlls

  1. Hehe, it looks like you’ve been reading more than me! I think I’ve only read 2-3 books these past few months… because, well, school/life. Anyway, I’m glad you liked Fullmetal Alchemist; I’ve heard lots a good things about that one so it’s already on my TBR list for the future. And that’s really too bad about the RR book. I’ve not read anything by her but I am interested in Fangirl, which I know is the book Carry On is a spin off of.

Hope you’re having a nice October so far!
