Earth is now living in credit

Today marks the day the Earth, or better, the human race, is living in credit, or as I found out today, today is called the “Earth Overshoot Day”. But what does it mean? We all know that we, as a human race, consume more environmental goods than those that are produced naturally by Earth. Earth Overshoot Day is the day of the year that we reach the tipping point -from this day, we are figuratively consuming the goods the Earth doesn’t have the means to produce. In other words, it’s not sustainable. Earth Overshoot Day used  was in September in 2000, and has since been delaying more and more. And one can only realize where this leads to – lack of these essential goods (that are in many countries seen as “basic human rights”) that have already started to disappear.

My point of this post is to raise awareness of how we consume. Reduce consuption so that you can use it later. And as if it weren’t alarming enough, we know that the food being produced can feed the entire world human population – yet there are lots and lots of people who can’t get access to these goods.

This relates to climate change – it is also an effect of human’s overconsuption over Earth’s natural restoration. I want to share one person’s Master Plan which is now in its final phase with you, and better, its Part Deux.

“Part One:

Create a low volume car, which would necessarily be expensive.
Use that money to develop a medium volume car at a lower price.
Use that money to create and affordable, high volume car.
Provide solar power.

Part Deux:

Create stunning solar roofs with seamlessly integrated battery storage.
Expand the electric vehicle product line to address all major segments.
Develop a self-driving capability that is 10X safer than manual via massive fleet learning.
Enable your car to make money for you when you aren’t using it.”

This is Elon Musk’s Master Plan. For me, it’s a beautiful plan that came out from dreams. This plan is exactly what the Earth needs, it’s a way to achieve world sustainability.

What I want to share now is Arnold Schwarzenegger’s reasoning for supporting green energy, even if one doesn’t believe in climate change:

“There are two doors. Behind Door Number One is a completely sealed room, with a regular, gasoline-fueled car. Behind Door Number Two is an identical, completely sealed room, with an electric car. Both engines are running full blast.

I want you to pick a door to open, and enter the room and shut the door behind you. You have to stay in the room you choose for one hour. You cannot turn off the engine. You do not get a gas mask.

I’m guessing you chose the Door Number Two, with the electric car, right? Door number one is a fatal choice – who would ever want to breathe those fumes?”

This is an excellent thought that proves that the path towards a healthy life is through green energy. More Master Plans should are needed.

In every action you make, take a choice for environmental sustainability. Here I leave the links to the information I mentioned:

  1. I believe the plan will eventually come true. =)
In the meantime, it’s our job to do the little things that matter.
